Bandai Namco recently announced a new game for manga and Anime fans. The popular manga and anime series "Rurouni Kenshin" is getting a new action game for smartphone set to release this 2017
The official Twitter account of Shueisha's Jump SQ magazine revealed on February 12 that "Rurouni Kenshin" manga will have a smartphone game titled "Rurouni Kenshin, Meiji Kenkaku Romantan: Kengeki Kenran." Bandai Namco Entertainment is in charge of developing the app.
At present, the game's official website is accepting pre-registrations for both iOS and Android versions. "Rurouni Kenshin" will be free-to-play with micro-transactions, aimed for a 2017 release. The game is expected to be a sword fighting battle between samurai.
The upcoming "Rurouni Kenshin" game will be based on the popular manga written by Nobuhiro Watsuki. According to Anime News Network, this spring, Watsuki will make a new arc for his "Rurouni Kenshin" manga set in Hokkaido. Watsuki and his wife Kaoru Kurosaki published a two-chapter prequel manga to the new arc, titled "Rurouni Kenshin Side Story: The Ex-Con Ashitarō." The manga will run in Jump SQ magazine in November and December.
Watsuki first launched his "Rurouni Kenshin" manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1994. The manga centers on Kenshin Himura, once a deadly assassin during the Meiji Restoration, who is trying to find a new life beyond violence.
The "Rurouni Kenshin" manga has since been adapted into a 95-episode TV anime series. It was also adapted as an anime film, three original video anime, three live-action films, and a stage musical by the all-female musical theater troupe Takarazuka Revue.
Watsuki previously published a "Rurouni Kenshin" spinoff manga in 2014 titled "Honō wo Suberu -Rurouni Kenshin: Uramaku-" (Controlling Flame -Rurouni Kenshin: Hidden Chapter-) that centered on how Shishio Makoto and Yumi Komagata met.
