Although the Headstart weekend begins on Saturday, ArenaNet's much-hyped MMORPG Guild Wars 2 does not officially launch until Aug. 28. Users who want to get into the game as quickly as possible should read the tips below.
Users can buy Guild Wars 2 digitally or in physical form. Before buying either copy, users may need to ask if downloading a game via Wi-Fi is possible, if the service provider supports over 10 gigabytes in a single download, and how long a download may take. Guild Wars 2's .exe files weigh in at around 14.3GB currently.
For buying digital copies, ArenaNet offers the Standard and Digitial Deluxe editions. The latter includes the game from the Standard Edition, along in with in-game weapons. While bonus weapons from the start are nice, players probably should bear in mind that weapons at lower levels are turned over quickly, so it may not be long before the Deluxe Edition's bonus items are thrown away.
Amazon sells both editions of Guild Wars 2, with the standard edition priced at $59.99 and the Digitial Deluxe edition costing $79.99. Digital download websites, including Green Man Gaming, also offer the game.
ArenaNet also offers a third edition of Guild Wars 2, the $149.99 Collector's Edition. Available in a physical copy only, the upper-tier copy of Guild Wars 2 includes the Digital Deluxe's bonus items, a 10-inch Charr statue, a 112-page "Making of Guild Wars 2" art book, a custom art frame, an art portfolio and five prints, and the Best of Guild Wars 2 soundtrack composed by Jeremy Soule.
Guild Wars 2 will be released Aug. 28 on PC.
