It is said free-to-play games is where the industry is headed, and should become the norm in the next 10 years. Well, Microsoft is not waiting for 2022 to begin its onslaught of free-to-play games on Xbox Live. The company has announced a new Arcade title called Happy Wars, a game that is looking to be a fun experience.
The game looks similar to the 2009 PlayStation Network downloadable hit, Fat Princess. At first glance, you'd probably think both games were made by the same developer, but that is not the case. Happy Wars is developed by ToyLogic, while Fat Princess was developed by Titan Studios.
Happy Wars promises a 15vs15 multiplayer action brawl. Players will be able to equip their characters with all sort of weapons and gear for the sake of looking like a true bad-ass in battle. The customization options here are powerful, and from the gameplay video below, Happy Wars looks like a fun play.
Furthermore, there is a high chance Microsoft might feature micro transaction in Happy Wars. Want cool gears and weapons? Fire up your credit card and get ready to spend your life away. Paying for extra content and weaponry is not a bad idea as long as the game is free to play, but what if it doesn't work out, what then? Since gamers will be required to have an Xbox Live gold account to download and play this game, Microsoft could recoup some of its losses right there.
This isn't the first time Happy Wars had shown itself to the public. However, the developer didn't announced that the game was to be a free-to-play title. It is likely at the time no one knew if it would venture down this route, but here we are.
No release date has been announced. All that is known is the game is gearing up for a Fall 2012 release.
