The PlayStation 4 Pro's Boost Mode brings changes and improvements to the console that gamers will love. This includes gains in frame rate for some games like "Project CARS" and "Assassin's Creed."
Faster framerates
PlayStation Lifestyle reported that some titles will have improved frame rates like Assassin's which can reach 30fps on Boost Mode compared to the 22-24fps on the PS4. Other games getting a framerate boost are "Knack," "Tomb Raider Definitive Edition," and "BioShock Infinite."
In a statement mentioned in a Eurogamer report, Sony explained that the Boost Mode was primarily made to enable players to have fast-performing games even though they do not have a PS4 Pro. "This can provide a noticeable frame-rate boost to some games with variable frame-rate, and can provide frame-rate stability for games that are programmed to run at 30Hz or 60Hz," Sony added.
The company also noted because of faster CPU speed, load times could be shortened. However, Sony said that the Boost Mode will not work with all game titles.
CPU-dependent games
In addition, Gadgets NDTV said that games which are dependent on the CPU have improved frame rates. Two of the game titles which have faster frame rates are the "Project CARS" and "Assassin's Creed Unity."
However, Polygon highlighted Sony's warning to turn off the Boost Mode if a player experiences unusual behavior during the game. It added that when the Boost Mode is already working on a title, a faster gameplay is ensured.
Other highlights
Released in November last year, the PS4 Pro was made available to gamers but not all were able to fully enjoy the offering of the console because of a separate PS4 Pro support required for it to run properly. This promises gamers with a 4K resolution and a more rewarding gameplay experience.
