Netflix has just released a new comedy series that stars Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore. The new show entitled "Santa Clarita Diet" seems normal at first, but viewers will be in for a surprise.
"Santa Clarita Diet" centers on a husband named Joel (Olyphant) and his zombie wife Sheila (Barrymore). Sheila has a knack for eating human flesh, and Joel is doing his best to keep their family together.
Unlike some zombie-themed shows, the new Netflix offering is set in a relatively normal environment. Apart from Shiela's diet, it could pass off as a quirky show about an American family.
Audiences have been warned about "Santa Clarity Diet's" grotesque scenes where Sheila devours human parts and blood. As reported by Vox, the show is "very strange and visceral, gleefully gross."
"Santa Clarita Diet" has 10 episodes for its first season that premiered on Netflix on Feb. 3, 2017. The show is created by Victor Fresco, the man behind "Better Off Ted" and "Sean Saves the World."
According to a Hollywood Reporter report, when Fresco was asked about his decision to do "Santa Clarita Diet," he claimed that he liked to explore the idea of "unconditional love between two characters." He also wanted to see what will happen when "a bomb goes off in the center" and the two characters work on it and "try and figure it out."
Some viewers are already thinking whether the new series will get another season. However, PopSugar reported that Netflix hasn't divulged any details as of the moment as the show was just released last week.
