Valve removed the players' most favorite "Counter Strike: Global Offensive" map ever, the de_dust 2. The map, as announced by Valve, would not be in the map rotation for the game's next major event.
Many players and fans reacted when Valve announced the removal of the de_dust 2 map in the game, but they can't do anything about it. According to Valve, it will be replaced by an inferno map and it will be played at the next "Counter Strike: Global Offensive" Major League.
"In the wake of the ELEAGUE Major, we are making a change to the map pool," Valve claimed as reported by WWG. "Inferno has returned to Active Duty, replacing Dust II, and will be featured at the next 'Counter Strike: Global Offensive' Major. As in the past, the updated Active Duty pool is automatically selected when you enter Matchmaking."
The de_dust 2 map has been in the game long before the game become "Counter Strike: Global Offensive." It was released in Mar. 13, 2001 on a "Counter Strike 1.1" patch. Since then, many players considered the map as their favorite.
There are many reasons why the de_dust 2 map become so popular to players from the first "Counter Strike" versions to "Counter Strike: Global Offensive." Aside from its simplicity, the gameplay is very easy to learn. The map design also gives fair play to both teams, giving a very close winning percentage rate for both Counter Terrorist and Terrorist team of 49.9 percent and 50.1 percent, respectively.
Some fans believe that de_dust 2 will not be gone for too long in the "Counter Strike: Global Offensive" game. Valve is also aware that this 16-year-old map is very popular, and removing this totally without any major reasons could make the fans upset.
