Despite the initial anticipation for Diablo 3, issues have periodically surfaced since its release. Speaking to IncGamer at Gamescom, the series' creator -- David Brevik -- said that the third entry in the franchise is "very different" than the game he would have created.

"Honestly, I think they did a lot of things the best they could, it was a very different game than I would have created, the team and personalities, the people, the talent and all the design philosophies of the people that worked on it in Irvine," Brevik said.

Brevik stated that Blizzard North -- or Irvine, as it was known -- closed down and therefore Blizzard South lost the experience of people who had worked on Action RPGs. He added that Blizzard made decisions which upset the gaming community, from "having all your powers work off your main weapon and things like that, to having blues that are more powerful than yellows."

Brevik noted that Blizzard has been slow to fix the issues, despite "probably" being aware of Diablo 3's faults. On the lack of end-game content -- players currently have to replay the game on the higher difficulty settings -- Blizzard promised improvements after the 1.04 patch, which brings class fixes.

Blizzard still needs to implement Player vs Player (PvP) combat in Diablo 3. Other issues surrounding Diablo 3, from hacked accounts to players losing real money, could have distracted the team. New issues in Diablo 3 seem like almost weekly occurrences, so Blizzard is in the difficult position of scramblng to fix issues while new problems surface and the community asks why old issues are not patched.

Diablo 3 developers commented on the interview, calling Brevik a "loser," in a Facebook comment thread. Fans have published the thread on the official Diablo 3 forums. Chris Haga, a technical artist on Diablo 3, posted the link to the interview on Facebook. Andrew Chambers, a system designer on the title, seemed slightly arrogant in tone. "Don't worry about it [Chris] Haga: you made the fastest selling PC game of all time".
