Nicole Kidman, one of Hollywood's most decorated veterans, may be part of the upcoming superhero movie "Aquaman." Reports say the actress has been chosen to play the mother of the popular Atlantean.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy Award winner may be the next star to join the "Aquaman" roster, as she is currently in negotiations for the part. If this will push through, Kidman will play Arthur Curry's mother, Atlanna. As the lore claims, Atlanna is of royal blood in Atlantis who, after escaping the kingdom, went on to fall in love with a mortal -- a lighthouse keeper. This spawned the half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur who then became a hero.
Jason Momoa's character has the ability to survive underwater and communicate with the ocean-dwelling life forms. The closest member of the cast to have been confirmed is "The Conjuring" star Patrick Wilson, who plays the villain Ocean Master. However, another antagonist is being looked at, Black Manta, in which "The Get Down" actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is currently being offered to play.
Kidman, an Australian actress of English-Irish descent, was known for her many accolades in the acting industry. She was nominated over 158 times throughout her career and with many more wins in various aspects. Her recently released drama, "Lion," showcased how the actress is still a bankable name in Hollywood.
"Aquaman" is slated to be released in October 5, 2018. He will be joined by Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. Kidman's casting is still uncertain for now and Warner Bros is yet to reveal if they have any other actresses in line of the role should the plan not push through.
