Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have both expressed their optimism about facing each other in the boxing ring. Both champions have been quoted as saying that the Mayweather vs McGregor fight can happen.

According to Sports Illustrated, undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather said that facing Conor McGregor in a boxing ring can happen. He acknowledged the fact that the fight is certainly what the fans want to see.

The undefeated Mayweather also said that he wants the Mayweather vs McGregor boxing fight happen at either 147 or 150 pounds. He said he wants to see the fight to be a part of a pay-per-view package under Showtime. The statements from Mayweather was made during the Carl Frampton - Leo Santa Cruz fight. The Cruz vs Fampton happened last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Conor MgGregor who is considered as one if not the most bankable star in the UFC also expressed his enthusiasm about the fight. During an interview in England last Saturday, McGregor discussed his plans to put a hold to his UFC career to pursue boxing.

According to Yahoo sports, the lure of more than three million pay-per-view buys cannot be ignored. That Mayweather may go out of retirement because of the huge amount involve.

Yahoo also pointed out that Mayweather's appearance in the Frampton - Cruz bout was precisely to make his point and convey his message to McGregor and all the UK fans. The Frampton - Cruz bout was broadcast to Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Though Mayweather's last fight was a relative flop as it did not even reach half a million pay-per-view sales, he still holds the highest PPV boxing sales records to date. McGregor's last UFC fights also reached the million mark in PPV sales.

The Mayweather vs McGregor boxing match is projected to go over three million PPV sales. Mayweather is the early favorite to win the bout as McGregor doesn't really have experience in the boxing ring.
