Following the reveal of new Attack-Operator, "The Jackal," "Rainbow Six: Siege" gets another update this week and it's a big one. The game's newest free expansion, Operation Velvet Shell, is coming out this February 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The DLC includes two new Operators and the newest map, "Coastline", set in Ibiza, Spain.
Operation Velvet Shell Details. Of the two new Operators players will be getting, only one has been introduced. Ryad Ramirez Al-Hassar, codenamed "The Jackal", joins the party as an Attack Operator with a head-mounted display that allows him to view enemy footprints on the ground and the C7E and PDW9 as his primary weapons.
The second Operator has yet to be announced but Game Spot reports that Ubisoft will share more details during Siege's upcoming competitive gaming tournament this weekend.
The new map, "Coastline", is set in a resort/nightclub in Ibiza, Spain and it comes free for all players. The two new Operators are free for players with season pass for Year Two. For those without, players may unlock them via in-game currency or real-world money.
Siege Free Weekend. Between Thursday, February 2 and Sunday, February 5, Ubisoft is holding a free weekend for Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six Siege." According to Polygon, this is open to PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Players on all platforms will have free access to the "full siege experience" as Ubisoft is giving them access to "all of the maps, modes and Operators present in the full version." Bear in mind that PlayStation Plus membership and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are required to play the game on consoles.
Release Date Confirmed. This free weekend is just the lead up to February 7, which is the official release date for "Rainbow Six: Siege, Operation Velvet Shell." Don't forget, gamers can also catch the three-day competitive event, Six Invitational, which takes place in Montreal, Quebec. Everyone can see the action live on Twitch and YouTube.
