“Guardians of the Galaxy” became a surprise Marvel blockbuster for 2014. Apart from its uniquely catchy classic rock soundtrack, the film’s intergalactic plot charmed its audience into wanting a sequel. Now that “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” is in the works, Vin Diesel had hinted that director James Gunn is interested in having a spinoff.
All of the characters in “Guardians of the Galaxy” are memorable. However, there is one particular character that clearly stands out - and not simply because he is a tall tree person.
Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel, has successfully captured the hearts of the audience. He might not be saying much - save for a variety of ways on how to say “I am Groot,” but his sacrifice at the end of the first film brought tears to the audience’s eyes.
In “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Groot sacrificed himself to save his friends. Thankfully, a part of him was found and preserved. Now, for the sequel, an adorable baby Groot is featured in its trailers.
At this point, it remains unclear whether or not film makers would want to invest on Groot’s newfound popularity. However, Diesel recently revealed that Gunn is very interested in having a Groot spinoff film. “It is something that James Gunn has talked about,” he told MTV International. “Something that I know he would love to do.”
Diesel, meanwhile, is also “excited about baby Groot.” “He is just too fun,” he revealed to Screen Rant. He even wants Groot to battle it out with the Hulk. “I have to talk to the Russo brothers and find out how this is all going to go down. There is a moment when you will see Groot and Hulk have a few words.”
A crossover for Hulk and Groot is reportedly one of the most highly anticipated team-ups in the Marvel universe. Apart from their giant forms, they are both similarly very strong. However, Groot never loses his lovable side - even during a fight. Hulk, on the other hand, loses his being and transforms into a rage-fuelled ball of strength that no one can control.
