HTC's Droid smartphone lineup has proved very successful so far, both for the phone maker and for the wireless service providers carrying the handsets. The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE Android smartphone is the latest addition to the Droid line, and early sales figures look very promising.

Launched less than three months ago, on June 5, on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE slightly distances itself from the current trend of huge, bulky smartphones. While it still sports a large screen, the latest Droid Incredible measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.46 inches (122 x 61 x 12 mm) and weighs only 4.66 ounces (132 g).

The handset is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system, and has recently received a reduced price tag at select online retailers. Amazon's special deal does not list an expiration date for this exciting offer, but the Droid Incredible already appears as "backordered," so this promotion will likely end soon. The initial price for the smartphone was $149.99 with a two-year contract.

The smartphone packs a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset with a dual-core 1.2GHz Krait central processor, Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and MicroSD card slot. The 8-megapixel rear camera captures video in 1080p HD resolution, while the front-facing camera allows for quality video chats.

The 4-inch screen is large enough, without making the handset bulky, the Super LCD display delivers a 540 x 960 pixel resolution, while Gorilla Glass protection makes it scratch resistant and reduces glare. The HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, topped with HTC's Sense 4.0 user interface. The battery lasts for up to 9.57 hours of talk time from a single charge and for 18.6 days in standby, offering a roughly 20 percent better performance compared to other 4G smartphones. The handset also comes with NFC out of the box.

If you want a new Android smartphone without blowing a hole in your pocket, the recent price cut for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE might just make it one of the most attractive handsets for the more budget-conscious. Moreover, RootMetrics has ranked the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system as the fastest and most dependable of all wireless networks in the U.S., so you'll be able to enjoy a fast, smooth mobile experience.
