The highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is likely to be announced later in August. According to Android Community, the device's 5.5-inch screen will be flexible and slightly curved.

Korea IT Times reported the screen could use flexible AMOLED technology, and will also use unbreakable plane display technology (UBP). Consequently, it could be stronger than regular glass. Samsung recently used the Super AMOLED display technology in its Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, to a warm reception.

The screen will be slightly bent to save small amounts of space. Apparently Samsung saved 0.44m, which allows the company to include a bigger battery than that of the original Galaxy Note. It could also mean an overall thinner device, with a similar design to the original Samsung Galaxy Note. The company also used a slightly curved display in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so the Galaxy Note 2 could be similar.

Samsung recently said that it could not confirm details on a product "not in the market yet". However, Samsung's previous usage of AMOLED displays makes the rumor plausible.

Other leaked specs include 1.5GB of RAM, a 12 or 13 megapixel rear camera, and likely 4G LTE support, mobilenapps.com reported. The clock speed of the Snapdragon S3 processor sits at 1.6GHz, and uses Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (not 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich like the Samsung Galaxy S3). The Galaxy Note 2's resolution is unknown, so consumer will be interested to see how Samsung copes with a 5.5-inch form factor..

For consumers looking for a powerhouse device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 looks like a solid choice. .

While there is no guarantee Samsung will unveil the Note 2 at its event on Aug. 29, some consumers may want to pencil in a pre-order.

The expected date of the event is interesting in light of Apple's predicted mid-September iPhone 5 launch.
