This week's "No Man's Sky" latest updates center on Hello Games launch plans, big expansion news and a major nomination. The latest buzz around Hello Games' space-survival game is that it has been nominated for this year's Game Developers Choice Awards.
The studio took to its official Twitter account to announce the news. It also shared a link to the 17th Annual GDCA Audience Award website where the audience can vote for their favorite GDCA nominee, which include "Battlefield 1," "Clash Royale," "Pokémon Sun and Moon" and a slew of other hit titles.
The voting closes on Tuesday, January 31 at 11:59 PM PST. It's worth noting that only players with valid email addresses can vote. Moreover, the GDC awards website urges players to vote only once for their favorite game.
Meanwhile, fans have been restlessly waiting for Hello Games to address an issue concerning a shader-loading problem on PC. It is apparently affecting a considerable number of players when they first load "No Man's Sky."
The frustration was evident on social media with one "No Man's Sky" player claiming that they experience extreme lag while the shaders are loading compelling them to use the ALT-F4 to start it again. Another player claimed it takes about 0-3 tries before the game loads without slowing up.
In other news, a brand spanking new "No Man's Sky" update could be in the offing, if a recent leak of fresh content is anything to go by. Following the release of the Foundation update, it looks like fans have unraveled the studio's plans to bring in ground vehicles in an upcoming patch.
A Redditor known as eegandj discovered a reference to a buggy in the game's file, but couldn't find an actual model. It took quite a lot of digging around for the "No Man's Sky" fan to ferret out nods to tire textures, before finally managing to catch a glimpse of what the buggy might actually look like in the game, Express reported.
More evidence seems to have surfaced online now, thanks to data miners who have shed more light on how players can unlock the new land vehicles. It is imperative for the players to first master the process of unlocking the new gear, which includes vertical boosters and mounted guns.
This involves hiring a mechanic, building a terminal and some farming, aside from a slew of other missions that the player needs to complete in order to get his/her hands on the correct materials. It's worth noting that the new land vehicles can be upgraded using just the existing in-game components. This will allow players to add things such as storage and weapons system, better top-speed and Jetpacks.
Hello Games has neither confirmed nor debunked these reports as of yet. But the studio's newfangled Foundation update is expected to bring in an array of jaw-dropping features.
