"Killer Instinct" players and fans may find the recent announcement for the World Cup rather upsetting. The act of teabagging is officially banned from the tournament, taking out one of the more "fun" components within it.
According to Event Hubs, the Killer Instinct World Cup is set to take place March 10 to 12 in San Antonio, Texas. It marks the end of a year-longseries which started in April 2016. As great as the tournament may sound, there are some conditions that need to be followed to ensure a peaceful and successful event, specifically, the prevention of teabagging.
The fighting game community classifies teabagging as an act of either psyching out or disrespecting an opponent. This happens when the player repetitively crouches in front of an opponent to visually taunt the opposition. In most times, this is used by "Killer Instinct" players who are seemingly confident that they are about to win a round and is simply a mental part of the game.
However, recent events that called the attention of the community proved that something so simple can result in confrontation and even in actual real world violence. These situations triggered those involved in the tournament to ban teabagging in the "Killer Instinct" World Cup tournament.
Some claim that the banning is unnecessary since it is a natural part of gaming, not just for "Killer Instinct" alone. Top players took matters to social media and said that the fun will be taken out by this rule. Even "Killer Instinct" Game Designer Adam "Keits" Heart explained that he does not tolerate the aforesaid rule, and that how they are received is a matter of human interpretation.
