"Gotham" has finally revealed the return of psycho villain Jerome Valeska after teasing fans with a number of clips and photos over the mid-season break. Jerome was already dead before the winter break began. His comeback is expected to show a different side to the character, as well as tests the depths of actor Cameron Monaghan's skills.

According to Geek, "Gotham" showed the resurrection of Jerome Valeska with a rather controversial approach. Jerome took Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) while he had his face bandaged, after Dwight Pollard (David Dastmalchian), one of Jerome's followers, cut it off and took it. He then squeezed information out of Thompkins, especially on what he missed out while he was dead.

Jerome, upon coming back to life, saw how his face was gone and asked Thompkins of its whereabouts. He tracked Dwight and had him strapped to a chair, covered in explosives left and right while broadcasting a message to Gotham City. In his own gritty, threatening and psychotic way, he lights up the fuse, rendering the Gotham City Police Department helpless as everyone just watched as the power plant blows up, bringing darkness to the entire city.

According to Bleeding Cool, Monaghan's portrayal was done quite masterfully, with the actor leaning more into the lunacy of the character. The hints of Jerome evolving into The Joker in the past were considered half-baked, and the recent episode finally put an exclamation point on it.

"Gotham" will take another season break on Monday and will resume on April 24. There is still no news on what Jerome and his ilk are up to in the next episodes, but do stay tuned for updates.
