Samsung Galaxy Tab owners have long awaited the arrival of Android Ice Cream Sandwich. At last, Samsung is rolling out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its Galaxy lineup of Android tablets.
Last week, Samsung pushed out Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy Tabs in UK. We are also hearing reports that the update is also available in Italy. According to multiple sources, Samsung is also gearing up to bring the software update for Galaxy Tabs to the U.S in the coming weeks. Galaxy Tab 10.1, the largest member in Samsung's tablet clan, is first to receive the update, followed by Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The Galaxy Tab 7.0, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 8.9 are next in line for the update.
Users can download the update either over-the-air (OTA) or via Samsung Kies desktop software. For Galaxy Tab 10.1, the OTA update is nearly 240MB in size. The OTA update brings Galaxy Tabs the same version of Android OS that runs on the mighty Galaxy S3. The update brings a range of new features to Samsung tablets, including Face Unlock, bandwidth management, and a new task manager, along with a massive list of bug fixes.
Taking into account Acer's Iconia tablet range, which received Ice Cream Sandwich ages ago, Samsung's update seems very late, especially when the source code for Android Jelly Bean is already on Google's server.
