HTC released its 2012 flagship smartphone, the One X, earlier this year. Nevertheless, it looks like that the company is prepping a special edition of the One X, this one exclusively for T-Mobile USA. The device is believed to feature quad-core 1.7 GHz Tegra+ processor and Android 4.1 jelly Bean onboard.
Previously leaked as HTC Era 42, TmoNews confirmed late-July that the device is in fact HTC One X+ headed for T-Mobile USA. Folks at Androidandme suggested that the plus (+) moniker is for Tegra+ chipset with quad-core 1.7 GHz processor.
Earlier this week, NenaMark2 Bechmark associated with the HTC One X+ surfaced online, courtesy of Landoflord. Benchmark data shows a device with codenamed HTC Evitaire and model number PM63100. Device specifications look same as the international version of HTC One X, except for its processor and Android OS version.
HTC One X+ packs 1.7 GHz quad-core processor and it runs a build of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The international version of HTC One X has quad-core 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 processor and run Android 4.0 onboard. In addition, HTC One X is on the track to receive an official update to the Jelly Bean OS sometime this year. So basically, the One X+ is simply the One X with a slightly over-clocked processor and a new OS build. Rest of the features of the new device are likely to remain the same as its big brother.
According to TmoNews, HTC One X+ will debut on T-Mobile in September this year. Rumor has it that AT&T will also carry the over-clocked HTC One X. With the One X currently receiving the top spotlight over at AT&T, we doubt that this might not happen, especially in the near future.
In the ongoing smartphone market trend, where Samsung and Apple soak all the profits, HTC is going down amid the intensifying competition. HTC looks like it will be adopting a wildfire approach to release its flagship smartphone in as many markets as possible, just like Samsung did with the Galaxy S3.
