There are a lot of movies coming out this year, which includes "Star Wars Episode 8" as the next installment of the "Star Wars" franchise. Recently, Lucasfilm revealed the movie's official title and it will be called "The Last Jedi".

According to Polygon, the title was revealed by a Twitter post from the Lucasfilm themselves. The poster is written in red and appears to be darker. Director Rian Johnson confirmed in an interview today that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" would focus on Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

The story revolves on what Luke has been up to since the character's disappearance in the war. Johnson stated that the director's approach for the film is to feel honest and real for the viewers. The upcoming 8th installment of the film takes place after the events of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The previous movie ended with Rey (Daisy Ridley) finding Luke Skywalker at the planet Ahch-To. In the novelization of the movie, it is revealed that Ahch-To is where the first Jedi temple is located. "The Last Jedi" also marks as the first time Ahch-To is mentioned in the "Star Wars" Universe.

Meanwhile, GameSpot reports that some actors revealed that the upcoming sequel will be darker than the previous installment. Adam Driver, who portrays Kylo Ren, said that his character have grown and evolved for "The Last Jedi."

The publication also reports that director Rian Johnson has always known for years that the 8th movie installment would be titled "The Last Jedi." It was the director's original draft for the movie and Johnson had to keep it a secret until now.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" premieres on December 15, 2017. The film stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Laura Dern. Carrie Fisher already filmed the last actress' General Leia scene before she passed away in December last year.
