While upcoming product launches are usually preceded by all sorts of leaks, rumors, and speculations galore, Lenovo took a head start and decided to make three of its upcoming gadgets official, way ahead of their public unveiling.
On the other hand, while leaks reveal at least some of the spec sheet of the upcoming device, Lenovo did not offer much to go on. The IdeaTab A2105, A2107 and A2109 will arrive sometime in September.
Lenovo IdeaTab A2105
According to Lenovo's website, the IdeaTab 2105 is a "tablet, smartphone, all in." Based on that description, the A2105 will likely come as an exciting "phablet" offering. The gadget will feature a 5-inch touchscreen, "stainless steel internal roll cage," offline GPS navigation, "long-battery life," and dual SIM configuration.
When it comes to operating system, Lenovo's description is a bit intriguing: "up to Android 4.0." Launching a new gadget in September 2012 with Android Gingerbread on board doesn't seem like a good strategy, but maybe the "up to" part is just a precautionary method. After all, Ice Cream Sandwich is rolling out to various gadgets and Jelly Bean is out of the box as well.
Lenovo IdeaTab A2107
The A2107 is listed as an "affordable palm size entertainment" device, and will sport a 7-inch touchscreen, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, offline GPS navigation, and will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The tablet's name, along with the official pictures on Lenovo's website, indicate that the IdeaTab A2107 will come as the global version of the LePad A2107, which was recently released in China.
The China-bound tablet sports a single-core 1GHz processor, 1G of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 3,550 mAH battery, a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, and a microSD card slot. The LePad A2107 also came with dual SIM support, but the global IdeaTab A2107 will likely skip this feature.
Lenovo IdeaTab A2109
The last of the upcoming trio, the IdeaTab 2109, is advertised as "full size fun on a small budget." It will sport a 9-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels HD resolution, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera, as well as an aluminum shell for extra style.
The tablet's other tech specs are unknown at this point as Lenovo teased just a few features for each device. Without knowing the full spec sheet it is rather difficult to make predictions on the tablet's performance, but if it comes at the right price and with exciting specs, it may give Apple a run for its money. There is no word yet on pricing or exact release date for any of the tablets.
