Plot details and ending
Filmed mostly in Australia and Texas, "The Leftovers" season 3 kicks off when Kevin (Justin Theroux) goes to meet his father, who is played by Scott Glenn. Slash Film noted that the third and final season will also look into and explore the past of Kevin's father.
The show's co-creator Damon Lindelof earlier told Slash Film that the main dilemma of the team is figuring out how to eventually end the series during season 3. "Where are we going to end it? What's the last episode of this series going to be? We'll design the entire season basically building up to that moment. I think there was a very purposeful circularity between seasons one and two, with the 'wherever you go, there you are' theme of it all," he added.
Lindelof also noted that they ended the last season of "The Leftovers" just like the first season noting that they wanted to highlight something for the viewers, However, he claimed that they can't do the same thing for season 3.
