While Rockstar Games is still hard at works on new downloadable contents (DLCs) for "GTA 5 Online," avid gamers looking to delve further into the offline mode of the game might have something to cheer about soon.

A group of veteran modders who have reportedly taken up the backbreaking challenge of bringing "GTA IV's" Liberty City to Los Santos have posted an update on their project. The modding team known as OpenIV have been toiling since 2015 when "GTA 5" was launched on PC. Apparently, they have made enough progress to launch a teaser trailer showing how it will work.

The video footage posted on the modders' official website, gives a peek at an expansive new region to delve across the ocean; however, this does not divulge more than just the outline of what was actually there. As expected, this stirred conversations among the huge "GTA" fanbase that have been restlessly waiting for the new update to rollout and if latest reports are anything to go by, they might not have to wait too long.

Currently dealing with legal issues surrounding the inclusion of a whole new map to Rockstar Games' hit action-adventure video game, "GTA 5," the modding team plans to make it an automatic converter that modifies Liberty City from a player's copy of "GTA IV" into their copy of "GTA V," Express reported.

Although OpenIV has confirmed that the new mod could arrive as early as spring of this year, taking its gestation period into consideration, it won't be surprising if the release does not come to fruition anytime soon. They also shed more light on their future plans for "GTA 5" modding. The modders currently have their hands full with updating their main tools and mods. Next, they plan to release their Liberty City in V convertor.

The "GTA 5" modding team confirmed that as of now, there's no specific release date associated with the new mod; however, they are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to launch the first version of Liberty City sometime in the spring season. In other words, the highly anticipated mod could arrive either in March, April or May.
