Microsoft entered the gaming scene with the Xbox 360 as the big underdog, and like a high school yearbook, the company was voted least likely to be successful. Seven years after, the underdog is the top dog, and all the naysayers are now trying feverishly to track back on their words. Over these years, the 360 saw a lot of great games that took the gaming world by storm. Today we are going to list our top 5 Xbox 360 video games since the console first hit store shelves back in 2005.

These games are the best of what the Xbox 360 has to offer, games that helped to enable the console to have all the success it is having. Sure many of you may not agree with the list, so instead of taking out your anger on us, list your own top 5 in the comment section.

#5 Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best open world games to come out on the Xbox 360 this generation and rightfully so since it was developed by Rockstar games, the guys behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The game takes place in 1911 and 1914, it is about a gunslinger called John Marston who was captured by the U.S. Government and forced to kill members of his former gang if he wants to see his family again.

The open world gameplay and the story is what truly set this game apart from other cowboy games. Not to mention the zombie DLC, that was something.

#4 Halo Reach

There is nothing better than playing a Halo game when it is brand new, just released, hot off the store shelf. Halo Reach is the best and most polished game in the franchise, and we doubt Halo 4 will be able to surpass that. Master Chief is more bad-ass here with new abilities and weapons at his disposal, which makes the single player a blast.

Want to play online? You're in luck, for this is where Halo Reach truly shines. Unlike many shooters, you will always find a well populated online match with lots of fun to be had.

#3 BioShock

This gam deserves to be on the list because it is one of the only truly games on the Xbox 360 this generation with original ideas and concepts. It is never easy coming up with something fresh, but the developers really worked hard on this one, bringing to the console a world that was beyond what anyone was anticipating.

The gameplay, story, characters are great, and these are things we believe makes an awesome game. The world of Rapture will be revisited again in the next installment, or so we hope since the city of Columbia is the main populace.

#2 Portal 2

No one expected the first Portal to be a smashing hit, but it surprised everyone, hence why there is a second in the series. Portal 2 surpasses its predecessor in every way imaginable; it is a game that is brilliantly designed and written from the ground up. Portal 2 also has one of the best co-op multiplayer on the Xbox 360, though the PS3 version was a little bit better due to being able to play co-op with PC gamers on Steam.

#1 Mass Effect 2

What were you expecting, skipper? No other game on the Xbox 360 so far has surpassed Mass Effect 2, and we are willing to stand to this even if our lives are placed on the line.

Mass Effect 2 is one of those games where the player is completely drawn in to the story and the characters. This is a game for the history books people, not many titles were able to pull off such a beautiful and believable world and story. When you play Mass Effect 2, right away, you think Star Wars, and not everything can be compared to Star Wars in a good setting, heck, not even Star Trek.
