Koei Tecmo ("Fatal Frame," "Dead or Alive," "Monster Rancher") and Gust ("Ar Tonelico," "Nights of Azure," The "Atelier" series) will soon be releasing another role-playing game (RPG) called "Blue Reflection: Sword of the Girl Dancing in Illusion." The game will feature Reflectors, who are magical girls that use "Ether" as their energy source.
Siliconera has revealed that a video featuring gameplay for "Blue Reflection" has recently been released. The video showcases the three Reflectors who face off against some of the game's enemies. The gameplay trailer also shows off "Blue Reflection's" Ether count, which can be raised when the girls perform an "Ether Charge."
The Ether count can also be increased when players heal, or when the girls protect their allies from enemies via real-time action commands. Reflectors can also use "Reflect," a special Guard move that is powered by Ether. The move "Reflect" summons a shield to help protect the girls from enemy attacks.
According to Gematsu, the "Blue Reflections" gameplay trailer was released during a live stream on Tuesday, Jan. 17. At the live stream, Gust also announced that first-print copies of the upcoming RPG will come with "an original theme, in-game "Free Space" theme, and in-game school swimsuit outfit.
In a previous report, Gematsu revealed that "Blue Reflection" is a "heroic RPG." Set in modern day Japan, the game will focus on "connections" and "[the] human essence." "Blue Reflection" also portrays a "life-sized projection of female youth."
Hinako Shirai, voiced by Yuki Takada, is "Blue Reflection's" protagonist. Hinako is a ballet dancer "who once had great expectations for the future." Yuzuki Shijou, voiced by Marika Kouno, is a "naive and energetic girl" who unlocks Hinako's Reflector abilities. Raimu Shijou, voiced by Sawako Hata, is a "results-based realist" who also helps Hinako unlock her Reflector powers.
Mel Kishida is the character designer and supervisor for the game, and the series organizers include Keiishi Sigsawa, Yusaku Igarashi, and Kouji Natsumi. "Blue Reflection: Sword of the Girl Dancing in Illusion" is slated for a March 30 release in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita.
