Samsung's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, with some certainty that's indeed the name of the phone as Samsung has filed an application with the USPTO to protect the name itself. The tech giant will also launch it early this year since the company typically rolls out its new flagships in the beginning of the year.
In the last couple of years, Samsung has shown off its new flagships at least a day before Mobile World Congress kicks off and MWC 2017 is scheduled to start on Feb. 27, which means that the Galaxy S8 would be released in Feb. 26. Twitter user Ricciolo had exactly leaked the release date of the Galaxy S7, which he did the same with the Galaxy S8 and if you are too eager to get your hands on it, you'll have to wait at least two weeks after its launch date.
However, recent reports from Tech Radar suggests that the Galaxy S8 release date will be delayed until April specifically on April 18 with its announcement set on late March or possibly early April because of the phone's delayed development due to Note 7's controversial exploding flaws that Samsung had to looked into. Howbeit, sources told the Investor that mass shipment starts in February, which could mean that a February announcement is also possible and March would be the arrival.
The Galaxy S8 will most likely sport a 4K display of 5.1 inches and 5.5 inches or 5.7 and 6.2 inches, water and dust resistance, with dual lens camera (a 30 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera) and 4200 mAh battery. It will also run at 3 GHz Exynos 8895 processor in some regions while 3.2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 830 chip in the United States with 6 GB of RAM.
Furthermore, the Galaxy S8 will also feature an iris scanner and AI assistant, a fingerprint scanner in the screen, no headphone jack and dual stereo speakers, which will cost roughly $850. All of these are just hints and speculations from the videos we've seen so far with an exception of the phone's name that Samsung has filed under.
