When it comes to the best voice-controlled smart home speakers for your home, the Amazon Echo and the Echo Dot are undoubtedly the best. Both work on many different smart home products and services, and Alexa has a bunch of tricks to make home life more convenient.

However, things may not always go as expected. The Amazon Echo or the Echo Dot may stop connecting or fall out of sync, and nothing is more frustrating than a malfunctioning AI. So here are two tips to help you out, if Alexa somehow got on your nerves.

Alexa is Triggered by TV Voices

The CW6 San Diego News reported that residents of the area complained their Echo devices had ordered doll houses online, after a news anchor mentioned the trigger word. If this is a recurring issue for you, consider moving the Echo device away from the TV or its speakers.

Amazon recommends to set Alexa up eight inches away from the wall, in a central and open location you can find. It is advised for Amazon Echo and Echo Dot owners to conduct a voice training session first to make sure Alexa will only respond to your voice to avoid being set off by somebody else.

Echo Disconnects from the Wireless Network

According to the Android Central, this is the most common reported issue among Echo owners.. Instinctively, your first move should be to power-cycle everything. This includes your router and/or modem, and the Echo speakers. If it still happens, try moving your Echo speaker closer to the router.

This issue can also be due to interference, such as your microwave causing interference on the 2.4GHz network. If you own a dual-band router with 2.4GHz and 5GHz, try going into your Alexa app and set the Amazon Echo to 5GHz. Of course, make sure it's close enough to get a good signal.
