Diablo 3 has had its share of problems, which have ranged from disputes with Korean players, to errors stopping players from logging in, to Chinese players obtaining illegal copies of the game. The latest is in-game: a bug - dubbed "Godmode," by players - allowing players to become invincible.
The bug has been posted multiple times on YouTube, and discussed on the Diablo 3 official forums. Activating the bug is simple, provided players have the Teleport and Archon skills: hover the mouse cursor over a character, hit Teleport, and then Archon simultaneously. If a character with a purple aura is spotted, players will know that the bug is in effect because damage won't be taken. To make the bug even worse players can attack while invincible.
Even when the animation finishes players continue to be invincible. This invincibility implies that finishing Inferno Mode - Diablo 3's hardest difficulty - or beating Diablo, the end-game boss, is now way easier. A player who posted on the thread said that Diablo has been defeated three times using the exploit.
Despite a thread discussing the issue, descriptions of hacks/exploits need to be e-mailed to Blizzard, a general company policy. The aforementioned videos surfaced on YouTube July 22 and it appears that Blizzard hasn't patched or officially responded - outside of a QA employee - to the issue.
Regarding the end-game content that users are exploiting, finishing Diablo 3 has been a major issue among the community. Critics aver that there's a lack of content after completing the singe-player game. Apart from running through the harder difficulties - remember, it's the same content - or farm for items, to sell on the Real Money Auction House.
The Auction House has also been an issue, with Blizzard's controversial15 percent cut - if fees are sent through PayPal. The problems continue to hound with a user who had bid for a $0 item receiving a bill for almost $150!
Recently, Blizzard posted on its forums saying that it is looking at end-game content, but an update probably won't arrive until after the 1.1 patch. Artificially lengthening the content of the game by replaying the same areas isn't fun. If certain zones had been cut off during the first playthrough, and unlocked through subsequent sessions on higher difficulties, then the lack of meaningful end-game content may not have been an issue.
A Blizzard QA representative said "We'll get this addressed." Blizzard on its part continues to dodge a confirmed date for addressing the issue and remains mum.
