South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is set to announce the results of an investigation carried out to understand the cause of Galaxy Note 7 explosions on Jan. 23. On Monday, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency confirmed the news from unnamed sources. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 episode is undoubtedly one of the biggest product safety failures in tech history. Samsung along with third-party researchers were looking into the issue all this while.

According to Reuters, Samsung is under tremendous pressure and needs to clearly explain what actually went wrong with the Galaxy Note 7 device, if it wants to gain back consumer trust once again.

"They've got to make sure they come clean and they've got to reassure buyers as to why this won't happen again ... To me it'd be surprising if they said it was a supplier issue," said Singapore-based analyst for researcher IDC, Bryan Ma.

Insider sources have reported that head of Samsung's mobile business, Koh Dong-jin, will announce the results of the Galaxy Note 7 investigation and the measures Samsung is taking to prevent such disasters from happening in future. Samsung reportedly replicated the problem during investigation but did not find hardware design or software-related matters to be causing the problem.

While Samsung is readying itself to reveal some amazing, path-breaking smartphones in 2017, its prospects for the smartphone business remain questionable as there is a panic among fans after the Galaxy Note 7 disaster. Investors and analysts believe Samsung's profits will still rise due to ever-increasing sales of OLED screens and rising prices of memory chips. It is important for Samsung to put behind the Galaxy Note 7 problem before it released another flagship, Galaxy S8, writes ZDNet.
