Recent information on the Samsung Galaxy S8 suggests details about its camera specifications and its launch date. A publication in South Korea claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be out in April.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Camera Details

ETNews, a South Korean publication, has claimed that tech giant Samsung will introduce a lot of changes to the Galaxy S8, specifically on the front camera. The report said that Samsung will cater to the rapidly growing market for millennials who are fond of taking selfies.

The latest smartphone model will feature an 8MP front camera, which will also include autofocus features. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will operate on encoder Autofocus, which will be entirely different from the coil Autofocus installed on Samsung's previous devices.

The AF functionality in the Samsung Galaxy S8 will take selfies to a new level. Although front cameras of some smartphones have AF, the feature is still a rarity. ETNews cites unnamed industry sources and reports that Samsung is planning to introduce an encoder-type AF actuator for the Samsung Galaxy S8's front camera.

The AF actuator goes in the camera module to control lens location and automatically adjust lens focus. Samsung has previously used fixed focus-type front-cameras in its smartphones because they are cheap and small. Customers' expectations, however, increase and the company is likely to introduce better technology in its future phones -- even if the cost is slightly higher.

The Korean publication also claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 would not launch with a dual camera feature. The company fortified its Samsung Galaxy A series with exceptional front camera sensors and it is said that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will follow this lead.

Launch Date

ETNews further added that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will launch on April 15. It is worth noting that April 15th is a Saturday -- and Samsung traditionally launches flagship smartphones on Fridays.

Wccftech reported that other likely features for the Samsung Galaxy S8 include a 6GB of RAM and 10nm processors. It will also have an edge-to-edge design and wider display, as well as a virtual home button. Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy S8 is said to be designed with an Iris recognition feature.

Recently, Samsung reportedly leaked a video showing off the latest Samsung Galaxy S8. There is no official confirmation yet from Samsung if the device shown in the video is, indeed, the Samsung Galaxy S8. However, it does bear a resemblance to what we have come to expect from it. The side bezels are virtually missing in Samsung's latest display and the top and bottom are not that far behind in terms of width either.
