The official trailer reveal of Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment's "The Last of Us 2" got a huge ovation at the PlayStation Experience event back in December. However, the game developer has refrained from shedding more light on the upcoming sequel since then. But what it has revealed could prove decisive for those looking to get their hands on the game.

Fans of the original 2013 game to must bear in mind that Ellie will be the central character in the game. While players were able to catch a glimpse of the 14-year-old protagonist in action, she was merely a supporting character who played on their heartstrings but this is about to change in the upcoming title. According to creative director Neil Druckmann, Ellie, who now filled with hatred, is looking to turn the tables on, International Business Times reported.

It is also worth noting that five years have elapsed between the titles, which is a little more than players have waited for a follow-up until now. Throughout gameplay, players are likely to unravel bits and pieces of those five years.

However, what will be brought out in the open is still not under wraps at the moment. Nevertheless, with Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson reprising their roles as Joel and Ellie respectively, there is a chance that "The Last Of Us 2" will revolve around these two characters.

Citing the excitement around the upcoming title, "The Last Of Us 2" has been subject to a slew of fan theories. On such theory reported by GameRant suggests that Joel could be a visitant or ghost that Ellie keeps running into after an appalling death. This coincides with Druckmann's aforesaid description about Ellie's hate for enemies that are not revealed.

While the now 19-year-old Ellie looks stronger both emotionally and physically, Joel seems to have weakened with the years. He is no longer the man who protects Ellie but appears to have become her conscience instead.

Regrettably, "The Last Of Us 2" does not have an official release date associated with it yet. Apparently, Naughty Dog has an idea about when the game could hit the store shelves. However, the game developer has opted to remain tight-lipped about it until things are all set in stone.
