It was recently confirmed that Disney Channel hit show, "Girl Meets World," was cancelled after three seasons. This will put an end to Riley Matthews' journey into adulthood.

The Twitter page Girl Meets Writers was the first bearer of the news that the "show is over." "We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we could not be more proud of," the post read. "As I look back, I can tell you with absolute certainty - We gave you our best."

Fans of the show were devastated and took to the Internet to vent. Despite the disappointment, the cancellation of "Girl Meets World" was a bit expected, especially after its cast members have been hinting at it. Rider Strong, for one, confirmed that "the show ended" after they wrapped up filming for Season 3.

After the news of "Girl Meets World" cancellation broke out, fans and cast members, alike, started to post throwbacks of the show's previous season and behind-the-scenes moments. Fans even came up with a paper airplane campaign, which got the attention of the network.

"Networks want to do something to gather an audience," show creator Michael Jacobs told TV Line. "The fact that there is an audience who has been so loyal says a lot."

Jacobs then added that talks about continuing the series are actually "underway." "We are at the very very beginning stages," he continued. Apparently, the audience's reaction to the "Girl Meets World" cancellation made the network heads change their minds.

"For anyone in show business, if you ask them why they are doing something and they say they're doing it for themselves, they will not sustain long," Jacobs added. "Those that answer 'We're doing it for the audience,' - and mean it - they sustain."
