Android Wear 2.0 is coming this February and Google already confirmed this. The operating system for wearables was originally announced in May of last year and back then, the OS was expected to officially arrived by the end of the year, however that did not happened.
Rather, Google stated that it has decided to postpone the release date until the first quarter of 2017. To make up for the delay, the tech company constantly update everyone by posting more previews and details.
The information are especially directed to developers. In an effort to help them prepare and make the right apps for their products, some key details were posted ahead of the Android Wear 2.0 release to the market.
Now, the February launch date was revealed after some online publications was able to get a hold of Google's email that was forwarded to Google Play developers. The message indicated that the new operating system will feature "on-watch Play Store to help users discover apps right on their wrist." ZDNet was able to confirm with Google that the details in the email are correct.
Features
Further, on Android Developers Blog, Hoi Lam, developer advocate at Google, shared about the Play Store features for the Android Wear 2.0. He mentioned that users can search for apps in three ways: via home view, search using voice and handwriting or keyboard. The options will make it easier to find apps that the user need.
Google relayed that the best feature in the Android Wear 2.0 is probably the fact that users can easily install apps on their smartwatch without the need for the mobile phone version to be installed.
Lastly, the tech giant also affirmed that the Android Wear 2.0 will have Android Pay support for iOS and Android. The upcoming release of the new OS for wearables is on the right timing as Google is also set to launch at least two Android smartwatches soon.
