"Resident Evil" fans are having an amazing year so far. Aside from the "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, there is also the film "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" starring Milla Jovovich. The last entry in the live-action "Resident Evil" film series, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, is scheduled for a January 27, 2017 U.S. release. Now, another CG film is also being released in March.

According to Now Loading, the CG film "Resident Evil: Vendetta" will screen in Japanese theaters on May 27, 2017. The film will star Chris Redfield ("Resident Evil," "Resident Evil 6"), Leon Kennedy ("Resident Evil 2," "Resident Evil 4"), Rebecca Chambers and a new antagonist named Glenn Arias.

Rebecca was first seen in the first "Resident Evil" game which was released in 1996, and she starred in "Resident Evil Zero" in 2002. Her most recent appearance was in the game "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles," which was released in 2007. She has noticeably been absent in the more recent "Resident Evil" games like Chris' sister Claire ("Resident Evil 2"). It seems that in her long absence from the franchise, Rebecca has become a professor at the Alexander Institute of Biotechnology.

"Resident Evil: Vendetta" is set after the events in "Resident Evil 6" and before "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard." The trailer for the film shows Chris on a mission to recruit government agent Leon and Rebecca. The trio is then tasked with trying to stop Glenn, who appears to be hell-bent on spreading the new "Trigger Virus." In the trailer for "Resident Evil: Vendetta," Glenn can also be heard saying that his new "products," unlike the mindless zombies in the other "Resident Evil" titles, can now differentiate between friends and foes.

In a separate article, Latin Post revealed that there is still no official word about a U.S. release for the CG film. "Resident Evil: Vendetta" was directed by Takanori Tsujimoto and written by Makoto Fukami ("Psycho-Pass," "The Torture Club).
