Audiences all around the world can't get enough of zombies in TV shows ("The Walking Dead," "Z Nation" and "iZombie"), films ("Zombieland," "28 Days Later") and video games ("Resident Evil 7"). Now, a Netflix show about a seemingly normal family joins zombie-themed media in February of this year.

USA Today has recently revealed that Drew Barrymore's ("E.T.," "Charlie's Angels") Netflix show "Santa Clarita Diet," which is about a family of three that lives in Santa Clarita, California, will feature a zombie. The title, which referred to a diet, was at first believed to be a normal diet for losing weight and staying healthy but it seems that Sheila Hammond's (portrayed by Drew Barrymore) cravings are for something else.

The show focuses on Sheila's struggle to keep up appearances once she revives as one of the undead. Aside from managing her real estate business with her husband Joel (portrayed by Timothy Oliphaunt) and taking care of their daughter Abby (Liv Hewson), Sheila must control her developing taste for human flesh.

Victor Fresco, creator of "Better off Ted" and "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," is also the brains behind "Santa Clarita Diet." When the show opens, Sheila is unwell but the cause of her strange cravings remains a mystery. Fresco said, "Presumably, she has been exposed to something - although we don't know what - which is making her feel a bit off."

Barrymore's return to the small screen comes after the actress has taken some time off to take care of her two daughters, Olive and Frankie, and to deal with her third divorce. She shares that her character Sheila will go through an "awakening" and that working on the show was fun since it was also a "conducive and fun and healthy" experience for her.

Barrymore ended the interview by teasing that her latest show is "a very perfect recipe for 2017." She quips, "I like things that are easy to digest. Pun intended." Santa Clarita Diet" is slated for a Feb. 3 premiere on Netflix.
