According to PCWorld, the mini-computer is sported with a seventh-generation Intel Kaby Lake processor, memory, storage and wireless connectivity. The said product is so small that even it can't be plugged with a USB-C or other ports to power up or connect to displays.
It can only work if users plugged the said product into a slot of a larger device and the company is targeting commercial market with the super-small computer can be slotted into all-in-one devices, smart devices, robots, drones and more. Intel's mini-computer could also be applied to upgrading PCs, making computer upgrades a lot easier just by plugging the card into a slot on a computer case.
Meanwhile, MobiPicker reports that in addition to is small size, Compute Card can be said as a device of the future by many due to the product's potential to prevent devices from becoming obsolete. Each time users feel like purchasing another PC or Laptop to have a more up to date device, consumers can now upgrade their PCs using Intel's smart card and slot it in into user's device.
In a statement by Intel, the chip giant states that device makers only design and utilize a standard Intel Compute Card slot into their products to fit the proper performance and price of a device. Intel added that this reduces time and resources needed to design and validate the computer block and helps speed up innovation to bring power of intelligence into an even wider range of devices.
Intel's Compute Card was introduced at the CES 2017 for the first time and as of now, is not targeted towards PCs, but Intel will eventually get there.
