"Pitch Perfect," the first film in the series, debuted in 2012 and received positive reviews from both critics and viewers alike. A sequel followed in 2015 and also received "generally favorable reviews." Now, "Pitch Perfect 3" is slated to air in December of this year.

The "Pitch Perfect" film series features The Barden Bellas, an all-girl acapella group, and their wacky adventures as they set out to make a name for themselves at various local and international competitions. The Hollywood Reported showed fans of the films a glimpse of The Bellas when the online publication revealed that Anna Kendrick, who portrays Beca, shared a photo of the cast on her Instagram account.

The photo showed the rest of the cast such as Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy), Chrissie Fit (Flo), Shelley Regner (Ashley), Ester Dean (Cynthia Rose), Hana Mae Lee (Lilly), Brittany Snow (Chloe), Anna Camp (Aubrey) and Kelley Jakle (Jessica). Everyone looked happy to be together again in the photo, and Kendrick captioned the image with the word "team."

While producers have kept a tight lid on the plot for "Pitch Perfect 3," it was announced that the film will finally be screened on Dec. 22, 2017. The third "Pitch Perfect" film will be directed by Trish Sie, who has choreographed for OK Go, Rufus Wainwright, Jason Hill, and other celebrities. She also directed "Step Up: All In," the fifth movie in the famed "Step Up" franchise.

In other news, Entertainment Weekly has revealed that actress and singer Andy Allo, a protégé of the late singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and record producer Prince, will be joining the cast of "Pitch Perfect 3." Allo belonged to Prince's band New Power Generation, and she collaborated with the late singer for "Superconductor," her second album. Allo will portray Charity, a member of the music group Dew that will face off with The Bellas in the upcoming sequel.
