All the readers are well aware of the debacle that plagued Samsung last year after the release of Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The device blew up and caused several mini explosions and hence, was recalled worldwide. However, even after this forced and embarrassing recall, Samsung has announced that it expects a huge increase in the fourth quarter of 2016 (January to March). In the Samsung Q4 earnings guide, Samsung has confidently stated that it is expecting to get an operating profit of almost $7.2 billion for the period. This is almost 1.5 times the profit it made in the same quarter last year i.e. January to March 2015.

This expectation indicates one thing: the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall was but a tiny hurdle in the otherwise ambitious plans of the Korean company. The Note 7 debacle did not shake a lot of customer confidence against Samsung. This does not mean that the company remained completely immune to the worldwide recall- it was disastrous PR and fans started second doubting the future releases, too. However, financially speaking, all the losses were absorbed in the previous quarter i.e. in October to December. This makes sense, as this third quarter is closer to the date of the recall.

Note 7 was supposed to be the winning bet for Samsung. This is the reason the tech company had previously predicted that its third quarter is going to be a huge and profitable one. However, those figures had to be revised to a great extent because Samsung issued a full recall of the smartphone. The result? The estimated profit figures were slashed by a whooping one-third amount.

What was the effect on the actual figures for the third quarter? Samsung earned just $4.4 billion, as against an expected figure of $6.6 billion. However, the guidance issued today by Samsung indicates that things may finally be turning around for the better for the company. The expected figures are deemed to be the highest quarterly profits the company has seen in the last three years- a figure that has overtly beaten several market expectations! How was this possible? Trends and analysis suggest that with the Note 7 models recalled, the sales of previous models like Galaxy S7 picked up to a great extent.

This is another good indication to Samsung- the upcoming flagship S8 could do really well in the market. Are the fans excited about the soon to be announced and launched Samsung Galaxy S8? Keep watching MobileNApps for more information and updates!
