Xiaomi is hard at work on its next flagship smartphone dubbed, the Xiaomi Mi 6 in order to breathe new life into its Mi lineup. Multiple reports suggest it will be the first handset coming from the Chinese manufacturer to pack Snapdragon 835 SoC. Qualcomm has just debuted its latest Snapdragon 835 processor at the ongoing CES 2017 event.

Equipped with brand new technology that facilitates faster speeds, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be the first ever Chinese smartphone to be fired up by SD 835 SoC, according to a report from GizmoChina. The publication also cites a recently surfaced poster that tips off Xiaomi Mi 6's release date, suggesting the smartphone will hit the store shelves on Feb. 14, 2017.

This echoes a previous post from an analyst Kevin Wang Diary on Weibo. According to Wang, the Xiaomi Mi 6 might be powered by Snapdragon 835. Although the supply for the Snapdragon 835 is not substantial, it would not interfere with the release date.

The company has already started getting shipments of the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which according to Qualcomm boosts the performance by 27 percent despite using 40 percent less power as compared to the Snapdragon 820. The new processor also brings in Quick Charge 4.0 support that enables fast charging.

Meanwhile, another report from BGR suggests that the long-awaited successor to Mi 5 will be up for grabs in three variants, each powered by a different set of processors i.e. Qualcomm, Exonys/MediaTek, and Xiaomi's own Pinecone processors. The smartphone will come bearing the moniker Xiaomi Mi 6S, Mi 6E, and Mi 6P variant.
