Blizzard just dropped the new "Overwatch" map called Oasis. It is now available for free and can be downloaded to most gaming platforms including Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
The map was released through the latest patch notes published by Blizzard. Definitely, the new place to explore is just what the game needs to keep players engaged in the gameplay.
As posted on "Overwatch" website, the Oasis map is one of the most modern cities in the world and it is situated at the heart of the Arabian Desert. As Blizzard describes, Oasis is "a monument to human ingenuity and invention, researchers and academics from around the region came together to found a city dedicated to scientific progress without restraints."
Similar to other control maps in the game, the futuristic Oasis is divided into three control points and it offers features like the jump pads and super busy highways. The traffic is horrendous because it is filled with speeding cars that can easily hurt careless players as they can be run over any time.
Moreover, Blizzard stated that it will release more updates as it promises to continuously support "Overwatch" with new game modes, heroes and more maps. With that said, players can look forward to a gameplay that will only keep on getting newer and better.
When it comes to the general atmosphere in the Oasis map, gamers will be treated to a unique highly developed desert city. The place comes complete with California-like palm tree-lined streets and glimmering skyscrapers.
This map is the second to be added since the game was released in May 2016. The first one was to be added in "Overwatch" was the Eichenwalde which was set in Germany and featured a laid-back town of castles.
In any case, the Oasis was unveiled at the recent Blizzcon 2016. Blizzard introduced the map together with a new hero named Sombra. Back then, the public was also able to test out the map through the beta version for PC and now it is live for everyone.
Meanwhile, Polygon reported that "Overwatch" players want Terry Crews in the game. And luckily, after expressing their interest in getting the actor to voice Doomfist, it looks like it is happening as Crews visited Blizzard's headquarters yesterday, Jan. 4.
