The first half of "The Walking Dead" seems to have a slower pace compared to its first few seasons; It was dark and it was depressing. However, an interview with Andrew Lincoln, the actor who plays the role of Rick Grimes, stated that the character has had enough of Negan and the show will return to its classic style that the fans know and love for the second half of the season, as reported by Games Radar.

Lincoln stated that, "There's sort of a freedom in [Rick], a feeling that comes from losing everything and also the thrill of the fight." He also added, "It certainly feels very much like a show that I knew and recognized in the back eight. All I'm saying is that the band is back together." He was referring to the remaining episodes of the season seven.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, fans of the show should expect Rick to be back and ready to fight as he will once again be a man in action, after seeing his friends get beat up and get killed. Lincoln recalls that he had fun filming the second half of the season. He predicts that fans of the show will be happy with what they are going to see. He says that it will be the magnificent eight episodes, particularly episode 16, as he described that he had dropped the script while reading it and made him punch the air in glee.
