Last year, Lenovo and Razer did have a co-branding partnership with the Chinese company saw potential on Razer in developing gaming gear. Today, the collaboration did pay off as the Chinese company hits the Consumer Electronic Show 2017 in Las Vegas with an introduction to two new gaming laptops.
Lenovo Legion Y720 and Y520 models that come in 15.6-inch display screens. According to PCWorld, both Legion brand laptops were announced at CES 2017 on Tuesday that features the obligatory under-the-hood one would expect of a 2017 update.
Legion Y720 and Y520 are both equipped with a seventh-generation Inter Core i7 processors, Nvidia 10-series graphics cards, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and either a 512GB SSD or a 2TB hard drive. The Y720 has a 6GB GTX 1060 graphics card that is powerful enough to feature VR headset.
Both Legion laptops also sport an IPS display option and a 4K screen option for the Y720. But the 4K support does not include as a gaming option and is only meant for daily use. In fact, users have to minimize the resolution down to 1080p to get good quality performance on games.
The Legion Y720 gaming laptop includes an Xbox One wireless controller receiver for gamers who don't want to use cabled controllers for the laptop. The Y720 also features RGB backlighting keyboard while the Y520 is illuminated with a single color red within its keyboard.
Meanwhile, The Verge reports that the Y720 model is the first laptop to support Dolby Atmos surround sound, making the game's sound more amplified and rich. However, the Dolby Atmos surround sound feature for the said gaming laptop can only be applied to any game that also supports Atmos and for now, only Overwatch is supported with Atmos.
Further, it is reported that Legion Y520 is priced an $899.99 in February and the Legion Y720 will be priced at $1,399.99 and will be available in April.
