On Tuesday, Lenovo announced at CES 2017 that its highly-advanced gaming laptops will fall under a new sub-category, Legion. Its 2016 models had the IdeaPad designation. In 2017, the Lenovo Y520 and Y720 models will be the first to bear the Legion brand name. Thus, Lenovo's mega success in the gaming laptop market continues as it keeps its amazing price-to-performance offerings with the new laptops.

According to PCWorld, the Lenovo Y520 and Y720 models feature Intel's seventh generation Core i7 processors and Nvidia's 10-series graphics cards. Users can choose storage capacity as a 512GB SSD or a 2TB hard drive options are available. The laptops also feature a 16GB of DDR4 RAM. The Lenovo Y720 sports a 6GB GTX 1060 graphics card that allows the laptop to support a VR headset.

Lenovo has given special importance to laptop design and has included IPS Displays in both the Y520 and Y720 laptops. The latter also features a 4K screen, which is a notable upgrade. Much is being said about the Lenovo Y720 device as it comes with an inbuilt Xbox One wireless controller receiver and RGB keyboard backlighting. Fans are expecting a Razer Chroma-enabled RGB keyboard with full per-key backlighting due to Lenovo's partnership with Razer.

According to CNET, the Legion Y520 will be available in February 2017 with a starting price of US$899 (AU$1,999) whereas the Lenovo Y720 will have a starting price of $1,399 (AU$2,699) and may hit shelves in April 2017. For years, Lenovo has been a dominant force in PC gaming as it has been able to churn out some pretty amazing desktops and laptops with a gaming touch that hardcore gamers have fallen in love with.
