D23, which is the official Disney Fan Club, revealed a variety of Disney-related projects that have been scheduled for 2017. In one of its articles, it seemed to have confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will be directly involved with "Thor: Ragnarok."

"If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, 'Thor: Ragnarok' in November brings together Thor, The Hulk, and Doctor Strange," the post read, as reported by Cinema Blend. It even revealed that the trio will be facing off "against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new."

According to the report, Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Tom Hiddleston's Loki will be venturing to New York's Sanctum Sanctorum to ask for help from Doctor Strange. It must be noted that at the end of "Thor: The Dark World," Odin -- played by Anthony Hopkins -- has gone missing and that Doctor Strange has agreed to help in finding him.

It remains unclear whether Cumberbatch's role in the film is just a minor one or if he will actually have a substantial supporting part. Although, other regular "Thor" cast member have already been confirmed to be present, Doctor Strange might still be in it, considering that "Thor: Ragnarok" has been promised to be an all-out cosmic adventure.

Producer Brad Winderbaum revealed in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, according to Monkeys Fighting Robots, that the upcoming film will be Marvel's chance to "try something new." Unlike previous "Thor" films, which had the Thunder God traveling back and forth between Earth and Asgard, they will "send him off into space."

This change in is regarded as both refreshing and strange for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but director Taika Waititi has assured that the strangeness will be worthwhile and that "it is what it needs to be."

"If we are going to do 'Ragnarok,' we got to do it properly," Waititi said "We just got to throw it all in there."
