After the record-breaking release of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," actor Ben Mendelsohn has revealed that there are lots of extra footage that could produce a new and different version of the movie. He said production came up with "multiple ways" of approaching various scenarios.
In a recent sit down with Collider, Ben Mendelsohn hinted that there is a massive amount of extra footage that could potentially create a new "Rogue One" movie. The actor explained that if ever the producers decide to craft a new film, the different approaches that were produced in the latest "Star Wars" installment could suffice.
Mendelsohn further clarified that since he saw the creation of the different scenes first-hand, he knows there are many other renditions "of at least four of those scenes." He added that he believes there are about 20 or 30 different readings in "Rogue One."
Business Insider notes that if fans were to compare the scenes shown in the movie itself and the footage that the trailers teased, they would believe what Ben Mendelsohn stated. The actor's recent remarks may also ignite talks among fans about a potential brand new rendition of "Rogue One."
While "The Force Awakens" has had a good number of versions that featured the scenes that unfortunately did not make it to the final film, it is unclear if Disney will push through with the same move for "Rogue One." Director Gareth Edwards has yet to make announcements about a potential extended cut account of the hit film.
Ben Mendelsohn played the role of Director Orson Krennic, the main antagonist in the latest "Star Wars" movie. He was joined by Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor, Donnie Yen as Chirrut Imwe, Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso, and more.
According to Forbes, the movie is looking to top $700 million worldwide. In the 2016 movies ranks, it is currently the 10th biggest hit. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" was released December 16 in US big screens.
