A new feature is reportedly already on its way to Windows 10 and this will work to improve speed and performance when playing games on the PC. This is according to a file that somebody stumbled upon in a supposed leaked version of an upcoming update. It reveals that Windows is working to provide its users a better gaming experience.
Twitter user WalkingCat tweeted that a dll called "gamemode" had been added in the latest version of Windows 10, version 14997. In another tweet, WalkingCat says that it is very likely that Windows will be adjusting its resource allocation logic so that optimal gaming performance will be prioritized.
Reports say that these new additions work similarly to how Xbox One makes a game run and will reportedly launch as part of the Creators update, which will be available for Windows Insiders soon. As of this moment, it is still unclear as to with which games these new additions are compatible with. However, it is likely that it would be limited to those that could be downloaded from the Windows Store.
As this is seen as a major update with far-reaching effects, it is also highly probable that its scope could reach farther than most would expect. Whatever the scope or however this alleged new capability would work remains to be seen when it does roll out later on.
Windows Central reports that this brand new "Game Mode" feature for Windows 10 will effectively and efficiently enhance the PC gaming experience by minimizing resources being used by running apps to almost nothing. In effect, this would free up resources that would work together to make the game run even much faster and smoother.
It is worth noting that, until now, Windows had never had a built-in option for this kind of optimization for gaming; but with the upcoming Creators Update, all that will be changing. It is still unclear if this "Game Mode" will work with all games with the likes of Steam or Origin, but it will be seen how dedicated Microsoft is to PC gaming when these features in the next update roll out.
