Samsung Galaxy S3 is yet to be released in the U.S. It is, so far, the most awaited smartphone of 2012. The smartphones packs some revolutionary features like wireless charging, Smart Stay and S Voice and it will be hitting Verizon shelves next month.

HTC Rezound, on the other hand, is HTC's dethroned flagship smartphone. It is one of the first smartphones to pack HD display. Gone through Dr. Dre's Beats Audio treatment, HTC Rezound offers premium multimedia experience. Verizon is bundling the premium iBeats headset in the package.

Check out the result when these smartphones are lined up against each other.

Design and Display

Both the smartphones pack the same number of pixels on the screen with HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. User Interface

Samsung's latest flagship smartphone runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz UI v4.0. Galaxy S3 is well known for packing innovative software features like Smart Stay, Direct Call, Social Tags, Pop-up Play, S Beam and S Voice. You can find more about these features here.

On the other hand, HTC Rezound runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Sense v3.5 overlay. Fortunately, the Android 4.0 ICS update is also around the corner. HTC Rezound comes preloaded with huge amount of apps (read: bloatware) from Verizon which is a major letdown to the device.

Camera

HTC Rezound and Samsung Galaxy S3 both come with 8-megapixel rear snapper that records 1080p videos at 30fps. However, the former is found to capture images with higher noise levels and thus reducing the image quality. On Galaxy S3, you can take still shots while recording HD video. There is also a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera in the device, while the secondary camera in HTC Rezound is 2-megapixel.

Battery

One of the biggest letdowns to HTC Rezound is its poor battery performance. The 4G LTE radios and fancy display drink up all the juice in the battery within 7 hours on heavy usage. Galaxy S3 is also 4G LTE compatible, but with 2100 mAh battery, it can last 2-3 days on moderate to heavy usage.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S3

Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy S3 has outperformed HTC Rezound in every section. The Galaxy S3 packs better camera, more powerful processor, more RAM, more storage and a bunch of never-seen software features. On Verizon, the device is expected to arrive on July 10. Looking at the impressive spec sheet and all the warm welcome it has received, the Galaxy S3 is worth waiting for.
