Square Enix announced the "FFXIV" crossover equipment with Garo during the "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" Fan Fest in Tokyo. The company held a press conference including the crossover's release date and more details.

The new crossover equipment will be launched on all servers worldwide on January 17, 2017. This does not, however, include the Korean, Chinese and servers that are separately run. "Garo" is a popular Japanese Tokusatsu TV franchise. Famed game writers namely Kengo Kaji, Yuji Kobayashi, Keita Amemiya, Kei Taguchi, and Sōtarō Hayashi wrote the game. The show's HD remastered version started its broadcast on TV Tokyo on July 8, 2016.

The collaboration will specifically bring the armors of the four Makai Knights from the TV show. This will also include the two Makai Priests' outfits, and three Madou horses as mounts. Among the outfits included in the crossover are Zero armor, "Garo" armor, Dan armor and Kiba armor. For the Makai Priests' outfits included are Reo Outfit and Rekka Outfit. Madou horses' mounts include Ginga Mount, Raigo Mount and Goten Mount. Moreover, Sword of Kiba Okami is included, as well as head, torso, gloves and legs outfit for each of the armor.

Dual Shockers notes that armor and outfits will be given as prizes in the Gold Saucer. On the other hand, mounts can be acquired through in-game achievements. The crossover has been carried out in to commemorate the launch in Japan of the new Garo series Dragon Blood.

This also celebrates the collaboration with Garo Director Keita Amemiya, who will design the bosses in the "Return to Ivalice." It is a 24-man raid that will be employed in the latest expansion entitled, Stormblood scheduled to be released on June 20. Yasumi Matsuno, game director of "Final Fantasy XII," "Final Fantasy Tactics" and "Vagrant Story," will write the story of the game.
