When it comes to new releases of game consoles and devices, there are game analysts that are quick to conclude whether something will make it big or not. Michael Pachter, a video game, social and digital media electronics analyst, did an analysis on Nintendo Switch.
Pachter, dubbed as "the industry's most visible crystal ball reader," said in his latest episode of Pachter Factor that there is always work involved in porting a game to any third party platform. "I've actually heard from developers that Nintendo is the easiest of the three to develop for," he was quoted as saying.
This statement piqued the curiosity of some gamers, and WWG tried to note why he was able to say this. This might turn out to be true because of Nintendo's partnership with Nvidia. Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's acting representative director, already stated that it was the younger, up-and-coming executives who took the work for the Nintendo Switch and they are working closely with Nvidia for its design.
Basing on the Nvidia partnership, the easy porting of games through Nintendo Switch from third-party publishers would make sense because every AAA game that comes out in PC tends to run well on Nvidia GPUs. This is because Nvidia goes the extra mile to help developers optimize their processors.
It is highly likely that the mechanisms inside Nintendo Switch are constructed in such a way that is guided by Nvidia to make porting the latest games running the Unreal Engine, Frostbite, Unity and other engines and APIs as easy as possible. Nintendo is definitely cooking something up for Switch and with a release that is set for March 2017.
Even the idea of the docked mode and it operating as a tablet is quite surprising for this console. That said, a varied reception for Nintendo Switch is to be expected. However, gamers will only need to wait for a while in order to get their hands on the console. WWG is getting some hands-on time with it early next month to see if it is everything that it boasts about.
