With the recently concluded League of Legends Pro League (LOL LPL) group draw, LOL enthusiasts and analysts now have a rough picture of how the LOL LPL will shape up. Although the LPL is said to be particularly hard to read as teams tend to deviate with accepted strategies in exchange for more kills, the offseason has provided more than enough information to determine the real contenders from the bunch of pretenders.

REAL CONTENDERS

TEAM WORLD ELITE (TEAM WE)

If reports hold, Team WE will be boasting the same lineup that they started with the previous year. Having a proven and tight-knit roster is a proven advantage when it comes to LOL and this can only develop from being together and play with each other for a long time.

Though Team WE may not have the scariest roster in terms of individual skills, the current roster's synergy may overcome whatever individual heroics that a player from other teams may pull out in a game.

I MAY

This may not be a popular choice but the I MAY team may just have an edge against the other strong teams in the LPL. What advantage may that be? I MAY, unlike other strong teams in the different brackets, has very little to prove and without this burden on their shoulders, the I MAY team can deliver the great results they are known to deliver.

With all the expectations riding on the other teams that are also considered top tiered, I MAY can focus on their own play instead of proving naysayers wrong or reaching expectations.

Though it is always expected that some top teams in the Worlds will suffer a meltdown when put on the grand stage, the LOL LPL as it currently stands may see these top two teams in the trophy ceremony.
