Apple is hitting hard with MacBook Pros this year. At the Worldwide Developer Conference 2012, Apple showed off two MacBook Pro models with 15-inch screen that has been labeled as "Retina Display" with price starting at $2,199.
Apple on Monday announced a bunch of updates and new electronic gadgets with retina display-powered MacBook Pros being one of them. As Apple describes it, MacBook Pro 2012 is most beautiful computer that the tech giant has ever made. At 0.71mm thickness and 4.46 pounds weight, the next generation MacBook Pro is ultra-thin. It packs 15.4-inch retina display with a resolution of 2,880 X 1,800 pixels.
The $1,299 version of MacBook Pro with Retina display packs quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Core i7 processor with Ivy Bridge architecture and 6MB of Level 3 Cache. The processor supports turbo boost up to 3.3 GHz. The device has 8GB of DDR3 RAM (1,600 MHz) and 256GB of flash storage. The ultrabook packs Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics card offering 1GB of DDR5 video memory. The only update that this model gets is $200 16GB RAM.
The other version of MacBook Pro with Retina display, which is priced at $2,799 gets you a faster processor (clocked at 2.7GHz), 16GB of RAM and 768GB of flash storage. Moreover, it supports turbo boost up to 3.7GHz. For the rest of the feature, both the variants are same.
MacBook Pro 2012 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth v4.0, stereo speakers, dual microphones and a FaceTime camera. The camera can record videos at 720p HD resolution. The ports that you get in the ultrabook include MagSafe 2 port, two USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports, HDMI port, SDXC memory card slot and a headphone port. There is no dedicated Ethernet or FireWire port in the ultrabook, but you can implement one with use of an external adapter which is sold separately by Apple.
